1. Mazda CX-5 (2013–2015)

If we had to pick one all-around winner, the Mazda CX-5 would be near the top of the list. They’re dependable, fun to drive, fuel-efficient, and generally cost less than comparable Toyota and Honda models.

2. Honda CR-V (2010–2013)

The CR-V has earned its reputation for reliability. While clean examples can be difficult to find under $12,000, they’re worth considering if maintenance records are available.
